Angela Hardy, Co-FounderAngela Hardy has eight years of experience in the classroom, working with every age student from ten to twenty-one across three continents. After graduating summa cum laude with a B.A. in History and French from the University of North Texas, she began her career by teaching English in the south of France. Her six years teaching in the U.S. have been focused on a global curriculum, first with 6th-grade World Cultures, and then with AP U.S. History and AP World History. At Newman Smith, she coordinated a Korean Exchange program, coached a WorldQuest team, and inaugurated two student organizations that promote an international worldview: the Human Rights Forum and Global Summit. She is leaving Smith in 2016 to pursue a graduate degree in International Comparative Education from Stanford University.
On HRF: "People don’t tend to think of high school as a place where teenagers speak and adults listen, but from its inception, the Human Rights Forum has been driven by student ownership. These students have discovered their power to develop informed opinions and act on them by conducting extensive research, confronting injustices and inequities, inspiring and mobilizing their peers, and building an enduring organization. Over the past three years, it has been my honor to guide the student leaders of our Forum. I've watched my students grow as advocates and activists who engage with the world on a local and a global level. I can't wait to see what the next school year brings!" |
